Here's our sixth weekly top tip on preparing for year end - well done if you have completed all checks to date!
πͺ Assets Register
The total of your council's fixed assets and long term investments should appear in Box 9 (English AGAR) or Box 12 (Welsh AGAR) on the Annual Return.
β Check
Go to Year End β Annual Return.
Is your Box 9 (or Box 12) populated for 24/25?
If this box is blank, follow the steps below.
For existing Scribe users:
Go to Setup β Bring Forward Balances
Tick Assets and then click Copy
Return to Year End β Asset Register. Box 9 (or Box 12) will now be populated with assets entered into the prior financial year.
If you did not add assets to the prior financial year, follow the steps below.
If it's your first year in Scribe:
If the current year is your first year in Scribe then asset records will need to be added. There are a few options:
Enter your assets directly into Scribe. Go to Year End β Asset Register. Click + to add a record and enter in the details. Repeat until all assets are added.
Import your Asset Register. Fill in the asset register import spreadsheet so that we can import your asset details for you. Please contact us at [email protected] to request a copy of the import sheet.
Enter one Asset Register record to record the total asset figure against. This option can be used if you have an asset register maintained externally to Scribe that cannot yet be added. Go to Year End β Asset Register and click + to add one asset record. The description can be entered as 'total council assets' or similar and the total amount to be shown in Box 9 (or Box 12) entered in the Purchase Value field.
π‘Updates will need to be made for assets purchased or disposed of during the 24/25 financial year.
Watch the tutorial on this check π
The same applies for borrowings and if your Box 10 (English AGAR) or Box 13 (Welsh AGAR) is blank on the annual return, please see a guide here on how to populate this. π‘Remember, you must manually update the outstanding amount at 31st March - you should receive a statement detailing this figure.
