The confidential cashbook refers to a specific cashbook or ledger setting used within a parish or town council that records transactions requiring confidentiality. This could be for various reasons, such as sensitive payments, private agreements, or any financial information deemed necessary to keep restricted from the general public or even certain members within the council.
The confidential cashbook setting on Scribe allows users to set cost centres as confidential. This means the cost codes and transactions allocated to this cost centre do not show on selected reports, instead just giving a sub total.
This setting is intended for use to summarise confidential salary information but the selection can be applied to any cost centre.
The reports listed above will not show the detailed information beneath a cost centre marked as confidential. See an example of the Summary Report:
The Administration and Office Costs cost centres have not been marked as confidential so the cost codes show beneath. The Staff Costs cost centre has been marked as confidential so only the sub total is given.
If you would like to display the confidential information on one of the selected reports you can do so by going into the Filter options. Tick Show Confidential Information and then View Report and the report will be displayed in the normal way with all the associated codes listed under the cost centre.
This selection is not remembered and any subsequent reports run that include a cost centre marked as confidential will show the sub total only against that cost centre.
