What is a Trial Balance?

A trial balance is a report showing the closing balances of all accounts in the ledger at a point in time.

Is there a Trial Balance report on Scribe?

Scribe doesn't have a specific Trial Balance report option but we would recommend the following reports as alternatives as they list all the codes and their balances:

▶️ Rec & Pay Account (R&P users)

Under the Year End menu this report list all the codes and their balances along with the opening and closing bank and VAT balances. The total of the receipts and payments columns will be equal.

▶️ Summary Report (R&P users)

Found under Summary Reports this report lists all the codes and their actuals. Unticking 'Show sub total' under the Advanced report options will list the codes in number order (without the associated cost centres) with the actuals against them.

▶️ YE Summary Report (I&E users)

This report, found under Year End lists all the codes and their actuals, taking into account any adjustments.  This report will also equal the ▶️ Inc and Exp Account report which is a summarised version (based on cost centres rather than cost codes).
