How to Delete a Reserve in Scribe Accounts
If you need to delete a reserve in Scribe Accounts, it's important to follow the correct procedure to ensure that all associated elements are properly handled. Below are the steps to delete a reserve, particularly if it has an opening balance or any reserve transfers attached to it.
Steps to Delete a Reserve

Check for Reserve Transfers:
- Before deleting a reserve, ensure that there are no reserve transfers associated with it. If there are, you must delete these transfers first.

Edit Linked Cost Codes:
- If there are any "spend" or "receipt" transactions linked to the reserve, you will need to edit the corresponding cost codes before proceeding.

Edit the Opening Balance:
- Navigate to the Set-up section and select Reserves.
- Find the reserve you wish to delete and click on it to edit.
- Overwrite the created date by typing the same date again. As you start typing, the opening balance box will reappear.
- Set the opening balance to £0.00.

Delete the Reserve:
- Once the opening balance is set to £0.00, you can now delete the reserve.
Important Notes
- You cannot delete a reserve that has an opening balance or any reserve transfers attached to it. Always ensure these are cleared before attempting to delete.
